Bay Natives nursery is run by renowned naturalists Geoffrey Coffey and Paul Furman. After existing online for several years, they have opened up a retail location near Heron's Head Park.

The great thing about this nursery is that all the plants are native to the Bay Area. If you just walk around SF, you might think that Eucalyptus trees and all the other common plants you see are native. Actually, they're mostly invasive species. The San Francisco bay is home to an astonishing diversity of flora, and you can find much of it at Bay Natives. These guys know their stuff, ask questions and you're sure to learn something new about bay area plants and gardening.

Public transportation is rare out in this neighborhood, but the T comes closest, running down third street from the Embarcadero. Get off at the Evans or Marin stops and go to Cargo way.
